                    During summer we mostly quench our thirst with various types of  cold drinks. But there is one very special type of drink and that is our natural Buttermilk. 

Buttermilk is made by blending natural yogurt and water. We also add green chillies, coriander leaves in it for the taste.

The properties and effect of Buttermilk vary in proportion to the quality of milk of which it is made. If one desires to get oneself rejuvenated by thick Buttermilk, one should use only the milk of cow.

A mixture of three-fourths of curd with one fourth of water makes a delicious thick Buttermilk. 

The sour curd should not be used for preparing Buttermilk.

According to the Ayurveda, thick Buttermilk is delicious, light and warm.

It kindles gastric fire. It is sweet and digestive. It eliminates all the three principal disturbances i.e., vata, pitta and cough. It helps to digest fried items, sweet and other heavy items.

Buttermilk is a perfect drink for summer as it reduces the body heat and keeps us cool. Buttermilk also helps you in digestion. Hence mostly Buttermilk is taken after the meal. 

According to Ayurveda Buttermilk contains medicinal properties and is consumed to treat diseases as well as improve overall health.

Buttermilk is a good source of vitamins and minerals that are known to help maintain strong bones.

Buttermilk also helps in constipation by consuming a glass of Buttermilk will facilitate bowel movements.

Buttermilk is a great facial wash for preventing premature aging of your skin. Regular application of Buttermilk on your skin helps tighter the skin and keeps it wrinkle free and youthful.

Buttermilk helps to prevent acidity. Ginger and spices in Buttermilk work as antacid and soothe acidity.
